Location: Steveston Boardwalk, Richmond, BC
This design highlights Steveston’s natural scenery and deep sunsets, as well as its historical and dynamic fishing industry. The painting makes use of the bench’s two angled surfaces to depict a dramatic sunset scene in two views.
The bench back shows several silhouetted ships at sea, backed by wispy painterly clouds in a evening sky alive at the golden hour, with rolling waves in the foreground.
The bench seat shows the surface of the sea and a glimpse underwater. The water ripples with the vibrant colours from the sky as a school of shimmering fish swim past beneath the surface.
