This fun little rug was my first go at the craft of latch hooking. I was exploring various different vegetation-inspired textures and techniques, making stuff up as I went. It was part of my challenge to myself to not look up any instructions; to allow the end result of this project to be discovered like one discovers a mossy forest path.
Visitors were encouraged to touch this rug with their hands. I love fibre art for its tactility, and I wanted to share that experience with guests.
I would also go on to incorporate this rug into a bigger fibre art installation: There It Grows.
